Writing is the communication of ideas through a physical medium. It uses known symbols to represent larger concepts that are not definitively tied to the symbols themselves. This means that writing is an infinite way to communicate abstract thoughts or ideas within a finite system. Writing allows for speech and conversation that can be communicated without error due to mishearing or misquoting. It leaves a tangible record of what is being communicated as it has to be expressed in some form of physical way.
