Erica Timmons Journal 1

If you ask me, I’d say writing is one of the most prominent forms of expression. If you ask Google, writing is “the activity or skill of marking coherent words on paper and composing text.” Writing connects people everywhere because writing is easy to translate and never goes away. Without written texts we wouldn’t know a lot of the things we do today about ancient Egypt or Greece. Writing has been able to preserve the most valuable stories and secrets. Writing is powerful. It is hard to argue or disprove something that has been written and signed. It is concrete.
Writing also connects people through the power of rhetoric. People will engage in certain conversations or arguments because of articles written about a certain issue or topic. Writing can cause a person to feel a way they may have never felt before because of the power of imagery. The great thing about imagery is that it can take a basic scene or image seen throughout daily life and turn it into a metaphor or simile about something that makes you think about something in a whole new light.
